She is highly skilled at 'upstyles', which she does efficiently and effectively, never failing to impress. Elaine is also superb when dealing with my three year old daughter. She always enjoys visiting the salon to get her hair cut by Elaine as Elaine always manages to keep her entertained as she trims her curls! I feel Elaine is truly deserving of the Golden Scissors 'Award of Excellence' as Excellence and Elaine certainly belong in the same sentence."

I've been going to Anthony for several years now and I don't think I've ever come out with the same hairstyle as the time before. He usually gives me an excellent cut that I can blow-dry in different ways so I end up with different looks. He's always in good humour and never grumpy like I have found with some hairstylists. He has a very natural flair when it comes to cutting hair and could probably do it with his eyes shut!"

I love to go in to her on a Saturday just to relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere; she knows exactly how I like my hair, and if I feel like a moan she will listen! I love it and I always feel like a new woman when I leave the salon. It's nice to feel important even if it is only for 1 hour a week. That's how Jackie makes all her customers feel. He runs a very high standard salon, where all staff members are very professional. Martin always likes to have a consultation whether you are a new client or a regular, listens and encourages you about what you want from your style and how to manage and care for your hair at home. I think Martin deserves this award as he has created employment for years in Sligo."

She got me out of a rut and gave me a fab new hair style while also giving me plenty of tips about styling. And of course she comes to you at home at a time that suits everyone. It's great as I don't always have transport and have to go two miles to get a bus service. It's a marvelous treat to be at home getting pampered by Melinda. I think she is great."

Because: "In my view John is an outstanding hairdresser. He is very professional and has vast experience having worked in Sligo, Mayo, Dublin and London. He has great vision and imagination and always keeps up to date with the latest trends. Most hairdressers can do your hair and make you feel good for a day but because John is so good and gives such a good cut you will find that the 'feel good' factor lasts a lot longer than one day. I find after a visit to John I can actually manage my hair myself which proves to me he really is good hairdresser. John is also artistic, very creative and has an exceptional talent when it comes to upstyles and as a result he has created many 'masterpieces' for weddings, graduations and other such occasions. I have recommended John to many of my friends and colleagues as a result of being asked who does my hair and they always assure me afterwards how happy they are to have found a good hairdresser. John is not merely a good hairdresser, he is a talented artist, an excellent hairdresser. I am more than happy to nominate him for this award as I really think he deserves it."
