Because: "She listens to exactly what I want done with my hair, asks as she's going along is it what I want. She gives me new ideas when I need them and gets the shade of colour I want down to a tee. She always makes sure I get looked after well while I'm in the salon. I get tea and biscuits and the whole experience is a relaxing one because she's a great hairdresser."

Because: "She's such a lovely lady and very helpful when you go into the salon. She makes me feel very comfortable because she will chat away to you and always offers a cup of tea or coffee. I must say she makes a lovely cup of tea. Angela will always ask and listen as to how you like you hair styled; she never rushes into her job when you go in. I think Angela is absolutely brilliant and deserves all the praise she gets. I wish her Good luck."

I am traveling to Malta in September to get married and John, being the perfect hairstylist has agreed to take his holidays and come with me and do my hair along with all the guests. John and his staff are all very friendly and work well together. They run a very friendly hairdresser shop."

He is very obliging and accommodating as he has opened the salon on Sundays for my daughters' communion and confirmation. He has worked really hard to be where he is today. He has recently opened a new salon and I really think he deserves the Golden Scissors award."

Because: "I would like to nominate John firstly because he is my grandson and secondly because he has worked so hard and recently opened a new salon. He has worked in various places around the country and also London. I once had a lady who knocked on my door whose brother had moved to my area and asked me for a number for John so she could contact him as he had cut her hair while working in Belmullet, County Mayo. She told me it was the best haircut and could not find anybody who could cut like John. I had to tell her that John had moved to London the previous day. That says it all."

I have watched him progress over the years and work hard to get what he has today. I hope the success of his salon grows and grows. John, who happens to be my son deserves this Golden Scissors award and a lot of my work colleagues and bingo buddies have been going to him for a number of years and they all feel the same way as I do."

After having some bad experiences with hairdressers in Sligo, one where I ended up having my hair far shorter than I wished, finally I have found a hairdresser who does exactly as I ask and not only that, she does a superb job also. Now I can sit back and relax, no more having to watch like a hawk, safe in the knowledge that my hair is safe in the capable hands of Annette."

John was an absolute perfectionist when it came to doing my hair. John has really worked hard to get where he is and I think he deserves to win. For something different but professional John's your man."
